Ms. Khawar Mumtaz

Ms. Khawar Mumtaz is the former Chairperson of National Commission on the Status of Women with the status of Minister of State (2013-2019). She is an activist, researcher/writer, and advocate with almost 30 years of experience on women’s rights and development issues. Ms. Mumtaz specializes in women’s political empowerment, gender and development, gender-based violence, women and environment, reproductive health and rights, poverty, and gender dimensions of peace and conflict. Her work spans from advocacy with policy makers, networking and connecting with global processes. She has extensive international experience with international and regional Non- Government Organisations, UN agencies, and UN processes.
